What it is
Seven alternating singles, typically two triplets plus a release note. The odd count means it starts on one hand and ends on the same hand.
How to practice it
Count it out loud at first. Sextuplet plus a downbeat is the usual phrasing: six fast notes filling one beat, seventh note landing on the next. Work it at 60 BPM until the seven notes space out evenly, then push. Lead with the left as often as the right.
Where you'll hear it
Classic fill vocabulary. A single stroke seven off the snare onto a crash is one of the most played fills in rock and pop.
