Seven Stroke Roll

What it is

Three doubles and a release note. Traditionally starts off the beat and resolves onto a downbeat accent.

How to practice it

Think of it as a pickup figure: the six roll notes pull you into the accent. Count the target note out loud so the roll always lands somewhere on purpose. Work both lead hands, keep the doubles open and even at first, and only close them up once the timing is honest.
