Single Ratamacue drum notation with sticking

What it is

A drag leading into a triplet, ending with an accent: rat-a-ma-CUE. Four primary notes with the ornament on the front and the payoff at the end.

How to practice it

The accent lives on the LAST note, not the dragged first one. Say the name while you play it; the word carries the rhythm. Keep the drag low, the middle notes even, and pop the cue. Alternates naturally, so once one side works the other follows.

Where you'll hear it

One of the most recognizable rudimental phrases in existence: marches, solos, and swung kit fills that want that old-school roll-off flavor.
