A drag leading into a triplet, ending with an accent: rat-a-ma-cue, accent on the cue.
The accent is on the last note. Keep the dragged first note quiet. Say the name while you play it. The word carries the rhythm. Keep the drag low, the middle notes even, and pop the cue. Alternates naturally, so once one side works the other follows.
Everybody knows this one. Marches, solos, and swung fills that want that old roll-off sound.
