Single Dragadiddle drum notation, sticking R(dd) L R R L(dd) R L L

What it is

A paradiddle where the first note is itself a diddle: the accent becomes a fast double instead of a single stroke.

How to practice it

Unlike a drag, the opening diddle here takes the full rhythmic space of the first note and carries the accent. Say it as druh-da-did-dle. Get the plain paradiddle solid, then double the first note without letting the group stretch.

Where you'll hear it

Drumline licks and rudimental solos. Split it between snare and a tom and it becomes a fill.
