What it is

A drag, then two singles: three notes with a drag leading into the first one. Named after lesson 25 in the old Bruce and Emmett drum method book.

How to practice it

Traditionally voiced with the accent on the last note: drag, tap, accent. Keep the dragged note and middle tap quiet so the accent has somewhere to go. It does not alternate by itself, so make yourself run left-lead reps. Once it is comfortable, it chains into ratamacues almost automatically.

Where you'll hear it

Learn this and the ratamacues come easy. It is all over the old American solos.
