Five Stroke Roll

What it is
Two doubles and a single: five notes, ending with an accent. The shortest of the standard numbered rolls and the one you will see most in actual charts.
How to practice it
Phrase it into the beat. The usual way to play it is two 16th note doubles landing on an 8th note accent. Practice starting on both hands, and give the ending accent a proper stroke. 70 to 100 BPM covers the useful learning range.

Marching snare parts all the time, plus short crush-roll fills in country, rock, and pit percussion.
