Two grace notes (a diddle) crushed in just before a primary stroke. Also called the ruff. The drag family's version of the flam.
The grace notes are played as one low, relaxed double from close to the head, not two separate strokes. Squeeze them tight against the primary note but keep them audibly two notes. Alternate hands, keep primaries at full height, and resist the urge to let the grace notes get loud.
Snare drum ornaments in every idiom: rudimental, concert, jazz comping (dragged accents), and ghost-note style textures on the kit.
All 40 rudiments are built into DrumLock free, with this notation on screen, a metronome, and a speed trainer that ramps the BPM while you play. No ads, no subscriptions.
