
A quiet grace note just before a full stroke. Two sticks at two heights, and it sounds like one fat note.
It is all stick heights. Grace note from about an inch off the head, primary stroke from full height, and the two land almost together: close enough to sound like one thick note, but you should still hear two sticks. Practice flat flams (both sticks together) as a fault check, then separate them. Alternate lead hands every stroke.
It thickens any accent you put it on. Backbeats, tom hits, marching accents, and the front of half the rudiments below.
