What it is
A flam followed by a tap on the same hand: flammed double strokes, alternating.
How to practice it
The tap after the flam tends to die. Play it as a double stroke with a grace note on the first note, and keep the second note at full value. Slow it way down, around 60 BPM in 8th notes, and make the grace note, accent, and tap three distinct heights. Once the heights are consistent, speed shows up on its own.
Where you'll hear it
Constant in marching and rudimental snare. On a kit it gives shuffles and half-time grooves more weight.
