Single Paradiddle

What it is
Two singles and a double: para-did-dle. The double at the end flips your lead hand every group, and that hand switch is why drummers use it so much.
How to practice it
Accent the first note of each group and keep the diddle low and quiet. You are working on the gap between the accent and the taps. Work it at 60 to 90 BPM in 16ths until the hand switch feels automatic, then move the accent to the second, third, and fourth notes and it gets hard fast.
Where you'll hear it
Any groove that splits hands between hi-hat and snare. It also builds your weak hand faster than anything else. Probably the rudiment drummers play most.
